please read the numbersusa article below. We have do the same thing...inform all members when the Senators/House Representatives field hearing in their cities/towns and volunteers/members can organize to meet them and explain our problems to them.
If it is possible we can show even documentary in the hearing which IV core team is preparing (if nt slideshow is also effective). Please come up with a strategy for this hearing......:)

No problem...I think fax can be a strong messages since it is a hard copy and it has greater chances to get read quicker than e-mails.. Please take some time and fax them. Fax takes a minute to send if the line is not busy. Keep trying and fax them.

I am sorry to ask this -- if I understand correct, LUD is last update date? What is your LUD, what does it say? Should we have LUD on I140 before anything happens to I485 application?
My I140 has been approved Aug 15, I485 is sent July 24 to TSC and I have no news about I485 yet.

If someone ports from eb3 to eb2 they should get the priority date of the day they were eligible to file an eb2 and not be able to carry the date from eb3.
Porting makes sense in a family based visa where your petitioner can file for an application while he is still a green card holder and then becomes a citizen which upgrades the beneficiary's category as well.
On an employment visa you file for an eb3 when you are eligible for an eb3 job, you file for an eb2 when you are eligible for an eb2 job. Why would you be able to jump ahead in the eb2 line when you were clearly did not have an eb2 job ? Just because you filed an application at some point of time in eb3 and waited a decade to get a better job doesn't mean someone else has to pay for your (pick one - laziness, ineptitude, lack of skill or lack of knowledge).
Most of IV Core is made of eb3 applicants and therefore there has never been any push from the core on this matter. And as someone said .. You ARE eating my lunch..
That's the way the rule is set and it doesn't matter if it makes 100% sense or not. Just like not all EB3 folks are happy with change in spillover, all in EB2 may not be happy with the way Porting rule is set up. But at the end of the day the total no. of visas available is the same, whatever way it is distributed and unless legislative change is made, both EB2 and EB3-I will remain retrogressed anywhere between 5-15 yrs.

Visa number assignment is a classical queuing case that can be solved even by a newborn who fires a projectile pee without warning.

It would be more effective if not effecient. You need not wait until the year end to issue visas, visas can be issued using a mathematical model which would allow old PD filers to get a visa ahead of others as soon as his case comes in and other criterias are fullfilled. Basically no one needs to wait for filing I485. People with old PD will get visa numbers first as soon as they enter the application.

And worst is the lottery...What pisses me off is that there are 220,000 visa numbers every year for family based GCs while skilled immigrants get only 140,000. Nothing wrong with immigrants wanting to bring immediate family members but this is causing nothing but chain migration. I think USA give more GCs to cab drivers than skilled immigrants.

As per the bispecialization phase III of USCIS, I-485 applicants from eastern and southern states are processed at SRC (TX) while western and northern at LIN (NE).

The fact is that the biggest immediate issue facing the majority of people is Not a green card, it is that they cannot even file for it. Wasn't retrogression the whole reason why people joined IV? GC processing was always slow, and that was a big problem. But it only got to be a critical problem when people realized they could not change jobs and their spouses could not work due to the retrogression.
Let us focus on the low hanging fruits first.

a) Filing for stage 3 regardless of PD
b) Relief for people in the LC mess
c) Fingerprinting one person just Once (i mean fingerprints dont change do they?)
... does it make sense to go for a Comprehensive Permanent solution or does it make sense to ask for smaller tid-bits and treat the other costs we incur as "costs of doing business"? ... Let us seriously think about this solution.
